Using ChemAgora, third party data bases can be searched by an identifier originally not available in these repositories: For example, the OECD's eChemPortal (one of the third party sites ChemAgora is using) becomes implicitly searchable by chemical structure when searched through ChemAgora. Thus ChemAgora does not only come in handy when getting an overview of what is currently known about a substance, it also adds value to third party systems.

ChemAgora has been developed by the JRC under the European Union's Seventh Research Framework Program (FP7) project diXa (Data Infrastructure for Chemical Safety), and is now available both via the diXa portal and as a standalone JRC application.
