diXa Ispra Training Workshop

diXa Training Workshop, 19th March 2013, JRC, Ispra, Italy

The first diXa training course of 2013 will be held on the 19th March in Ispra in collaboration with the EU Joint Research Centre.

During the morning we will provide a general introduction of the ISA-tools software suite; open source ISA metadata tracking tools. We will run a hands-on session that will illustrate the application of ISA-tab format to the consistent annotation of Tox studies. The hands-on session will be based on the publically available open TG-GATES dataset; though participants are welcome to bring their own dataset. If you choose to bring your own dataset we would ask you to get in touch with the course organiser at least 3 weeks in advance to give the trainer time to prepare.

Participants will receive an overview of the diXa projects, outlining the reasons the diXa project came into existence, the diXa project objectives and the progress made to date. A demonstration of the beta version of the diXa data warehouse user interface will be given. There will be time for a short discussion during which the participants are invited to provide their feedback of the user interface.

The afternoon session will focus on eChemPortal, which provides free access to information of chemical properties. The eChemPortal is a global collaboration, led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Development of the diXa Chemicals data base portal will be discussed. Sally Demarcellus, Project Manager from OECD will present and demonstrate the eChemPortal. The day will conclude with a roundtable discussion involving the OECD and diXa on possible synergies between diXa and eChemportal.

This one-day training workshop is by invitation only. If you would like to attend or have any questions please contact Vera Matser (training@dixa-fp7.eu). Registration for this event is now closed.
